    Raven Cliff Falls advisory

Just in case anyone was planning another HF get together @ Raven Cliff Falls in NE Georgia [I have been 2 to great get togethers there], I was by there today and the toilets are out of commission indefinitely.

Something about the septic tank being messed up.

Also, there does not seem to be a lot of hands on maintenance around there lately. Looked to me like a bear has learned to slide open the dumpster door and drag trash bags up the hill across from the parking lot. Lots of trash strewn around... Sad

    Anyways, just a heads up.

    Raven & bears

There are for sure bear in full time residence at that location. My only attempt to camp there lasted less than 3 hours. Me and Old4hats were confronted by one that would not leave, so we left. The rest rooms were closed then, first weekend in June. Great place, hope to go back.

That was getting to be my go-to place until early June, first a sow bear with three small cubs came down the trail. We scared her off and she left, but an hour or so later another bear, this time a rather large boar bear that had no scare in him, came down the trail, systematically toured the areas where campers had been, made a turn and zeroed in on our food. We tried to run him off or distract him, but he came right on in, took Chiggers oreo's and went across the creek to eat them. Yep, we left.

My buddy and I also had a run in with a bear there. He was a bit stubborn but we eventually ran him off. I'm pretty sure it was the "F*%& you bear" from my friend that did it. It still makes me laugh thinking about it. But to hear theres so many bear issues now is a shame.
