I go both ways...10 mile orange or low key beige
As for gear...tarp is green or neutral grayish, hammocks are green and brown, packs are green, rain jacket is dull red...

The road to success is always under construction.

I need to have different colors. I'm all for bright colors but too much of the same is a little weird. I’ll buy anything on the clearance rack but having to choose between black or green I’d go green. As soon as I realized my pullover, jacket, hat, pack and gaiters were all red I bought a new jacket! It’s blue.
My tarp is green to help blend.

When you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, remember - your half way to somewhere
I've gone with greens and blacks for my hammock and quilts. I like my lines to stand out, though. I have this highlighter-pink bear bag rope that shows up great. Same with my tarp ridge line. I'd really like to convert my tarp tieouts to the same stuff, as I always seem to be able to find it with my feet. They make a reflective line that would suit me even better in the dark.
My stuff sacks? Meh. Whatever color comes in the kit. My UQ bag is dark yellow, my other bags are the blue/green/orange ones from the camping section at WalMart. My pilow is a medium (hunter?) green, because it matches the hammock, but my ridgeline storage bag is this tangerine taffeta stuff, because it was on sale at jo-anns.
My pack is a bright blue, it was either that or a fire-engine red...
I prefer multiple earth tones but my wife would be happy with hot pink.

Depends on if you prefer to blend in or draw attention.
I prefer earth tones, except for my clothing. There, I have at least one "Don't shoot me!" shirt (which doubles as a "Don't run me over!" shirt when riding the bike).
My reasoning is twofold: one, it's less "loud" than other colors, making for a less obtrusive presence in the woods; and, two, I may eventually wind up having to camp somewhere where I probably shouldn't due to chance (bad planning, terrible weather, accident slowing me down, etc.) and don't want to be advertising where I am if that should occur.
Though...I do need to eventually put together a blaze orange poncho and tarp at some point for hunting season...

Earth tones for tarps. If I can't have blue then black for everything else.
But then again I love blue.
Directionally challenged...comicly so.
Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.
I went with black for tarps and hammocks. Green for quilts. Clothes are blues, tans.
That being said, not sure if it makes any difference to me.
Have fun.
I use earth tones, mostly olive/tan, for tarp/hammock/uq. I do have yellow whoopies and Nite Eyez guy lines for visibility, but other than that I try and blend in as much as possible.
Go Tigers!
I am on the fence about this subject.
Part of me wants to sneaky sneaky hang,
but thats not too smart around hunting season.
I like the military olive drab and camo colors for concealment,
because I feel that this will lend itself to overall safety.
The less people that know about my camp, the better.
As for guy lines and such, I've got some bright orange 550 cord that
I am going to tie little pieces of it to my guylines. I think of this like
tieing those pink ribbons to lines so that people don't run into them.
For my clothing, I like the neutrals, but I know how dangerous this is.
I purchased two ultralight nike ball caps that are in bright orange.
In my opinion, this coloring is the safest if I have any thought that hunters
might be out.
As per the original question.... NOPE, all one color isn't too much.
Women do it all of the time.
I don't like to stand out if I can help it. A dark green tarp, an olive tarp, dark green/black hammock, black on black quilts, motor oil pack (has two reflective strips on it I am thinking of taping over), and no reflective lines. I prefer to blend if possible. I probably will end up with a bit of earth toned stuff as well.
