    Just 'hanging' out in Cali

Hello everyone, I have spent quite awhile lurking around and learning what I could, and as such have finally officially joined. Currently have two hammocks, one a eno SN and a DIY gathed end I made out of ripstop. The biggest thing I've learned is how fast DIY projects can lighten my wallet. Also unintentionally learned how addictive rope splicing can be. I am an avid motorcyclist and the idea of camping while on trips is what brought me to the idea of hammocking in the first place. And through my research on the forum it appears there are quite a few motorcycle hammock campers here so my thinking was sound.....for once.

Welcome to the forums from Indiana!
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

Welcome aboard. There are indeed several avid motorcycle hammockers around here. And I'm sure far more here who wish they had a motorcycle to go camping with.

I was reading some of the trip reports.....and what I wish I had is more time for trips. Though after reading Land's reports it makes me want to get an adventure touring bike

Welcome from yet another Cali moto hanger. Adventure touring and hammocks are a perfect fit but not the only one. You are perfectly positioned to do some fine overnighter rides...thinking of the passes etc. Chris (Land) is a real road warrior on that big old GS and a fine ride companion.

Greetings and welcome from another California-Motorcycle-Hammocking-Camping dude. I'm up in Sacramento and just recently got into hammocking and been riding a motorcycle for a few years. I have yet to put the two together, though.

At any rate, what type of bike do you ride? I used to work and go to school in Stockton, and I pass through Stockton regularly in my general movements about.

I have a 99 cbr f4 sitting in the garage and a more trip friendly 2006 yzf600r. I just picked it up a short while ago dirt cheap and couldn't say no. It seems with every passing year I want to get something more suited to longer distances, however, I used to find the cbr comfortable on long trips. With the exception of droning down the superslab, but, while efficient, it is not my idea of fun on a bike. I did have aspirations of picking up a r1200 or fjr at some point but that's probably a ways off yet....and after reading trip reports I'm re-evaluating getting one at all.
