Glad to hear it! I'll see you out there. Ocala's definitely the cure for cabin fever.

Heh. Maybe I can convince the boss to let me use the walk-in for gear testing...then again, considering the (tiny) square footage of that thing, the point might be moot...

    Hey FLRider,
I just watched your video for the last gasp hang last year. Are you going to have the same DIY setup this year? I'd like to get a closer look at that.

Looks like the group hang is shaping up. Good times, great food and some hiking to the Springs, sinkholes and cemeteries, coming up.

Pretty close. I might (repeat, might) have a new top quilt, but the hammock and such should be pretty much unchanged. Depending on the projected lows, I might decide to bring a little extra under insulation...but I might not, too.

Either way, I look forward to seeing you there!

Things are getting more solid for us. If everything goes right we will be hiking in via the "shortcut" (my wife and I have done the hike in from Juniper Springs twice last year, she wants a shorter walk this time) on Friday and having to leave sometime after lunch on Saturday.

Shortcut? There is a shortcut? I might need a map of the area.

    Pat's Island or Yearling Trail.
From Juniper Springs, Go East on SR40 to SR19 intersection ~4 miles. Turn left (North). Going North on SR19 ~6 miles, the Silver Glen Springs entrance on right, Yearling trail parking lot on left. Use the Yearling trail going West until you hit the FT. Go South to Hidden Pond.

Or, go past the Yearling trail ~ a mile or so to FR10. Go left for 2 miles into Pat's Island parking. From Parking, go to the right about 100 yards and go left on the FT. Go to the FT and go South to Hidden Pond about 3-3 1/2 miles.
