How to tie gathered end loop

I've got a hammock that came from the factory with 132" of amsteel on each end. I'd like to use the ansteel to make whoppie slings and also add loops on the ends of tbe hanmock to clip on with beeners. Can someone explain how to tie a continuous loop thru the channel such that the loop won't easily come undone, similar to loops on the eno double nest?

You probably wouldn't want to make the continuous loop through the end channel. It would be best to make the continuous loop and then larkshead it through the channel

That's the concept I'm thinking of but I'm concerned the larks head may come undone and cone out if the channel in the process taking down or storing. I noticed on the eno double nest the cording was in a loop tied such that it couldn't come undone with significant attention.

Amsteel larks heads tend to stay locked in position after being loaded. I've never had one loosen up at all until I intentionally picked it open.

Same here. It really stays tight and won't loosen.

If you want to replicate the ENO with a continuous loop- Pass the Amsteel through the channel twice then splice the ends to form the continous loop. To protect the splice you could rotate the loop, positioning the splice inside the channel.

Mine are Larks Headed- Never had an issue.

Same as above. The continuous loop larks head on both my Hennessy and DIY hammock have been fine.

For the biners I have started using soft shackles for the connection between the whoopie and continous loop, mainly cause I think it looks cool and gave me another excuse to splice some rope.

To answer your original question, I used to splice continuous loops thusly: CLICK HERE, but now I just tie triple fisherman's knots CLICK HERE.

As mentioned above, I lark's head the loop through the channel so that the knot is inside the channel for a neater appearance. The fisherman's knot is in-line with the cordage, so it lays in the channel with minimal bulk. That's just the way I do it; I'm sure there are other ways. Good luck!

Sierra Madre research solo come with approx 132" of amsteel on each end.

yesterday afternoon i gathered up all the necessary tools to turn the factory 132" amsteel suspension lines into whoopies and they turned out great. my main concern is whether water will run down the whoopies onto the fabric when it rains since they will now be exposed past the edge of my tarp without a beener or ring to serve as a water break.
