DIY UQ measurements from a blanket to a down UQ with baffles?

    Hey guys viper here,
Im sure your guys tiered of me posting about a UQ, but I've almost gotmit figuered out it seems like then I can stop asking so many questins

So today I took an old regular blanket and cut it to side 48x75in.
And that seems to be a pretty perfect fit. (Assuming the UQ is so post to stick up a few inches above your hammock when your laying in it?)

So if that's right what I just said I am wanting the finished measurements of 48x75 for my down UQ I'm wanting to make a 0-20deg bag either works.
But obviously I can't just cut the downpropfmfor fabric to 48x75in because I have to account for the baffles taking more fabric. So say I went with 3 inch high buy 5 inches wide, baffles noseaum baffles. I really suck at math and figuring out measurements, so does anyone know how big I would need to cut the raw pieces of down proof fabric? Bottom and top piece? And probably use a 1inch hem around all sides of raw fabric before sewn togeather.
How does this sound so far and does anyone have an idea of how I can calculate the fabric size I need? Thanks a tone guys!

Hey Viper. I don't think you'll want to use a blanket for a down uq - down will likely leak out everywhere. Blankets aren't woven tightly enough.

If you wanted to use a synthetic insulation, then a blanket would probably work.

As for size, thats close to what I use as an inner sheet for my uq's. Don't forget to have a seam allowance - usually 1 " all the way around.

Use this calculator - it tells you everything you need. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=53701
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

Maybe information overload? You sound a bit like me. I tend to make things harder than they need to be, and I have to walk a way a bit and come back to it after a couple of days.

Don't give up - I started out the same way - and it takes awhile for it to click. I and other forum members will help you thru it.

Note - your not dumb, stupid or anything else - we're here to help you understand if it's at all possible. This is all new to you and others just starting out and you will "get it" soon enough.

Ask questions - THATS how you learn!
