My copy arrived yesterday. Now to "try it out".

By the way there is a note on N-S mile 39.31 (Section 3, page 6) about the restaurant at Watoga State Park. There is no longer a restaurant concession in the park. This change isn't reflected in the PDF you can find at the link HappyCamper posted above. That PDF will give you the entire corrected written part of the trail guide however.

No, you don't need to. In fact, you can't book sites because the park stops reserving sites after October 1st. All campsites then are first-come-first served. Also, we'll be having 4 to 6 hammocks on each site (if they have enough trees - most of them do). We expect but can't guarantee that the campground will be almost empty, with the few sites that might be taken being ones with full hookups for campers. Accordingly, I will go the day before and select a site for Thursday night. Then Friday morning I will book as many sites as we think we might need for Friday and Saturday nights. When you get there, you just find a place to hang on one of the MAHHA campsites. This way we can handle payment as we have at past MAHHA hangs: You buy one (or more) potluck/raffle tickets @ $10, and the cost of the campsites, pavilion rental, burgers, etc. is reimbursed from the raffle proceeds. Thanks for asking.

I hope to leave work around mid-day Friday, so that I can be there before dark. If that does not work out, I might have to head down Saturday

This be my first MAHHA, and it is in my neck-o-the-woods!

I really like Watoga, but I have not been there since 2005.

Funny how things change, I really felt that I couldn't justify to my family a weekend away when I already scheduled 2 other backpacking trips within a couple weeks of the hang. Plus the drilve was a little much for 2 days. When I lamented that I would miss it, my 16 year old said she wanted to go. I just checked our calendars and WOOHOO! We are both off Friday :-)

I will be driving down Thursday evening. I have an Expedition, so if anyone from the DC/ Baltimore area wants to carpool and share gas, let me know.

I am interested in traill maintenance on Friday.

Also, don't know if anyone is interested, but I am REALLY info wild plant identification so will be spending time checking out the local Flora. ...

    A bit far from DC

Deeply appreciative for all who went to the trouble to find a new site for this year. 5 hours is a bit of a drive from DC! The added driving time will put me from the definite to the maybe category.

Here's hoping that 10 hours of driving does fit with my schedule that weekend.

    No complaints. -a

DCAD: I'll be driving from Washington DC. We can join forces if you'd like. Also, VegaMike will be driving from Silver Spring (I may carpool with him). Lets coordinate so nobody has to miss the hang.
