    Hello from Damascus, Oregon

    Hello everyone,

Just spent last week backpacking in the Three Sisters Wilderness with a troop of Boy Scouts. Used a Hammock for the first time (after a couple of test nights) and am sold. Just have the stock Hennessy Expedition for now but it seemed to work well. A friend with a Warbonnet let me know about these forums.

It was actually my youngest son who convinced me to give it a shot (he had asked for one for his birthday - tired of a tent!). Really glad he did.

So took the plunge and am now looking forward to trying out all the different ideas I've been reading about so far.

Looking to check into more about quilts, better rainflys, and simpler suspension systems. Guess it's all about where to start first?

    Welcome to the forums!
I used to live near Powell Butte, now hanging in NC.
Similar story - my daughter last year expressed interest in a hammock for her birthday... I went to a group hang to check them out... Now we both have hammocks and have done some backpacking in them.

Anyway, lots to learn on here.
    Enjoy the journey.
And post a pic of Mt Hood every so often

Are there any Damascus steel knive stores around you. It seems like it is a prime market, if only for a good pun.

    Hello dedominick -
Yes - Nathan was one of the adult leaders on the trip. He had his hammock as well! I know he posted a bunch of pics on Facebook about the trip.
