On the Pinhoti trail in Alabama, there is a tree with a carving on it----some one was really mad at their ex wife, and decided to share it with everyone by carving into the side of the tree several sentances about how much he hates her and wants to kill her---------kinda strange, but maybe he feels better after expressing his emotions? ???? Its an old carving, so I guess the matter was settled long ago, one way or another! (hope it all worked out for them!)
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Looking for a new place to plant roots

Here's one that is walking out of the forrest. Guess he seen his young friend get cut at the ankles and didn't want any part of it.

This butt-shaped burl in Olympic NP was the biggest I'd ever seen. It probably weighed as much as most of our group, combined.

But think about how much gear you could have it the tree did the hiking for you. Hang all day and still cover 20 miles.
