I just finished splicing tarp flyz on lash it this morning and hung my tarp this afternoon. Pretty simple with the 2 seperate lines and it gets super tight. It's my first rig though so I don't have anything to compare it to.

I've always used a CRL.
In the car camping days with the big 'ol blue tarps it was really the only choice since the darn grommets just pull out if you load them much. Since that was before I knew anything like a prusik, we used to just pass a 10" piece of mason line through the grommet and then wrap each tag around the ridgeline, one clockwise, one counter-clockwise, forming a crude lashing that was finished off with a slipped half hitch. This actually works pretty darn good, even if it is a bit ugly. I continued to use this method when I started backpacking, but recently I've started to experiment with variations of the klemheist on same diameter 1.8mm techline.
I'll probably make a post about how I set everything up once I stop messing with it just to share and receive criticism.
