Hat for using poles in porch mode

Just came across them on the Zpacks site. Under hammock tarps. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Very last item.

I use a clove hitch around the top of my staff, but barring that, I'd probably use a cup or shoe.

    Trekking Pole Cups
These triangular fabric cups go over the handles of you trekking poles and make propping your tarp up very easy. They can be looped on to any tie out, and can be moved around as needed for different set up configurations. They are made from black 2.92 oz/sqyd hybrid cuben fiber fabric and are very sturdy.

    Price: $3.95 each
    Weight: .1 oz each.

Those might work well when canoe camping. Put the hats on the handle of a couple of canoe paddles, instant porch mode when you don't have hiking poles.

I carry a spare rope for my food bag, and use it frequently as a clothesline. It's long enough that I can usually find trees that let me string it parallel to the hammock 6 ft. high or so and 4 to 6 ft. from the edge of the tarp. For porch mode, the tarp tie-outs on that side just go to prussics or klemheist knots that slide on the clothesline. It keeps all the lines on the porch side of the hammock out of the way - nothing to trip over or duck under. Fewer dog leash tangles, too.

This is what I do. Works great. If you use straps, bring ziplocks to stick them in.
