Hey Knotty! Just an FYI we were in your gathered end DIY hammock in camo and coyote brown. Thanks for the designs you have put out there. You have been instrumental in a piece of his formative youth along with others who have shared their insights and designs.
Thanks everyone for your kind comments on my son. He was a little shy when I told him I was telling his story to a bunch of total strangers. I told him his story is not one that is common and would be a good one to share (I mean how many kids get the largest land animal in N America to walk up to them and still get to tell about it?).
After reading your replies, thanks to your kindness, he now agrees it was a good idea. He is no longer concerned with you knowing the story.
He has been pestering me about going again. Something about "facing the beasts of his past"! We are planning a return trip in the next couple of months. We will probably spend a few more nights in the back yard perfecting the lay of his new hammock before we go and working on some cold weather stuff together.
I'll let you all know how it goes.

Mind over matter,
if you don't mind, it don't matter
WOW, i wish that Was me, beeing there.
Thanks for sharing! Great family story for generations to come.
As the mom of an 11 year old boy, I really enjoyed this story. Thanks for sharing it. You must be very proud of your son!
With a radical sense of hope, I strive for the seemingly impossible.
Wow that would be cool to see
Welcome friend and thank you for sharing. What a wonderful story. It thrills me to hear stories including the next generation!
I have to admit. I had been avoiding this thread thinking it was going to be some stupid internet meme to comment on. Ha. But I'm glad I read it, what a funny little story.

...Tell me no lies, make me a happy man ...
Moved. Great story by the way. The Buffalo are what I miss most, since moving to New Jersey. It's been 44 years since I left Southern Idaho, but I recall all the trips that I went on with my dad and uncles. I don't think I would have been as calm as your son was, in fact I probably would have tried to pet the darn thing and then ask if we could keep him.

Awesome story, it will be one I tell my daughter. I hope to get heroit in a hammock this summer.
