Gear color selection

So why did you pick bright orange or olive green? Just wonder what you guys think about colors when it comes to gear selection? I am shopping for a new hammock and UQ and some manufacturers offer a lot of color selections like dream hammocks and Underground quilts. Does black attract alot more heat in the summer time when it comes to a quilt, hammock or tarp? Lighter colors cooler? I have also heard bright colors like yellows and orange attract more bugs. I love bright colors like lime, red and orange for my phone cases if you lose them in the woods. I also like bright orange glow cord on all my gear so I can find them at night. I also prefer some bright colors if I had to signal someone from the air. This time around I am thinking woody's colors ,black or brown , green for the setup. Thoughts? Can bears see a orange hammock?

I can see the advantages of standing out with bright colors and blending in with more natural colors. I tend to buy gear that blends into the environment since I like more of the natural look.

When I come over a hill and see lots of blue orange red and yellow dots, I generally continue over the next hill.

My main camping hammocks are greens and browns.
Extra tarps are greens or olive.
Snow hammock is white.
Top and bottom quilts are black.
Pack is black, only camo I own are my pants.
Yes, I blend well, either my surrounding colors or their shadow.

My social Hammock is red with gray trim, it's tarp is gray with large white letters that say ENO. Says alot about my personality...

My personal opinion on colors is simply... don't hurt my eyes.
All of my gear tends to blend. Olive greens, blacks, and other earth tones.
I don't do this to be stealthy.. I do it because I don't want to be an eye sore in the woods. I have neon green lines on my tarp. But the tarp is olive green and the lines do not throw anyone into shock.
My Pack is the ULA Ohm, so its green and black.. I took the yellow bungy things off.
Hammock is green
Tarp Olive green
Top quilt (on the way is green and black
UQ is green.
I do place a whit piece of TYVEK on the ground for my stuff to sit on.
General rule. Look to others as you would like to see in the woods. Peace, quiet, and awesome natural settings.
BTW... I have not worn camo patterns since the day I retired from the Army..

I like to blend so my colors are browns and olive greens. My guy lines are orange glow wire so I don't trip over them.

I have natural browns and olive browns that blend in well though all my guy and suspension lines are Orange so a little bit of visibility.

I was quite happy to discover last weekend that my all olive tarp/hammock set up was quite invisible from the bay. It was tucked in about 10' from shore and just blended right in. The tents and the rain tarp my companions had were extremely visible, like from half way across the lake...

I like bright colors for some things but for my hammock gear, the better it blends in, the better!

WBBB 1.1 seems to do that nicely; I was only about 30 yards off the main path taking a break in a day hike area and not one of a dozen or so hikers appeared to notice me.

Because I've never been in the army (it would seem) I got camo tarp, also a two-tone brown/olive tarp.

As with the majority I tend to to go with the earth tone colors, my main camping hammock is the WBBB in olive and my Jarbridge UQ is green and black, and my tarp is green as well for the back yard I have a black and olive ENO dn, and a black table cloth hammock
