Now, if any of you want to come to a California hang, I might be putting something together in a few months...
I thought of that... we're leaderless! Ahh!

Well, this is starting slow. Guess we could start with date suggestions. October 4-6 is the first weekend of the month and very close to last year's date I believe, the next weekend however is Columbus day for those that get holidays of this would already be a three day weekend. Dunno if that makes a difference for anyone here?

On a similar note I found a group campground, pickle gulch says it's a light usage area, but would have to also rent the area together. I've been in the area a few months ago, but did not go into this camping area. Anyone know it? http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/arp/r...28454&actid=29

You could pretty much blindly throw a dart at a map of Colorado and have like a 70% chance of being happy with the access you have to the backcountry, lol. Gorgeous state, too.
Sweet, sounds like my kinda place! thanks.

my last official HF hang was last year's Fall Hang (eek!), so with that said, I'll be watching this. October is good for me too. I guess the thing we need to decide is whether those who are going prefer a campsite or backpacking, right? Colorado has plenty options for each and I'm sure we can even find a site with both options.

Anywhere in the Evergreen,Conifer,Bailey vicinity would be perfect. Gorgeous area, back country feel, still reasonably close to civilization if needed.

Bears and mountain lions and elk abound here too. : )

I talked with one of the former members that help plan previous ones, he suggested car camping in one of the primitive campgrounds (there are a couple more 'formal camp grounds' as he called them near by) off FS550 near Deckers Co. (Within an hour of Denver or Colorado Springs any locals know this area well?) He said that there is no fee to camp in that area, plenty of good trees to hang from, and right by the Colorado Trail. Trail crosses several camp grounds in the area and several other trails near by from the looks of it. Just camping for some, plenty of hiking for others. Around 8,000' so the altitude shouldn't be too bad for any low landers, and maybe not too terribly cold. Groceries and such are about a half hour away I'm told. Not hearing much of said anything exact by most, but I would be leaning to the second weekend in October. They holiday doesn't help at my work but would for some. Any one have suggestions, thoughts, on this location, time frame?
