Re: How to hang on a ship?

You were the perfect person to respond! Wow, great info. I have never been on a cruise, but maybe one day. I know that some rooms have the fold down bunk over the other beds. I was thinking that might be one anchor point if another was available and if there were enough room to go across to another point. Just a thought.

Well at this time I have some ideas at least, I will carry a table cloth gathered end, straps, whoopies, and some Dutch gear. If I can I can and if I can't, not much in the way. Great comments.

Ha, if you can get in the engine room you have to have a lot of guns and a seal team. I worked on 3 ships and never even saw the engine room. I've seen that room they show on the tours with all the buttons but the real engine room is really off limits. If you want to hang outside go to the 4 forward or whatever deck you do you emergency drill on. It is a crew area but if you pretend to be asleep no one will bother you.

I can't wait to hear how the room steward turns down the hammock and puts a mint on the pillow. Maybe he'll make a monkey out of it and put it on the bed for you.

Structurally, I'd say its doable on deck. But at night, the ships crew usually closes down lots of areas for cleaning and maintenance. Also, policies may be in place that deter passengers from tying things off to the handrails and such.
Plus, people are roaming around all night, I don't see getting any peace and quiet on deck.

In the rooms, I do not recall any place that would allow for an adequate location.
Our room (an inner stateroom) had a pull-out couch, a upper berth/bunk, plus the queen size bed. The upper bunk may provide a location? Might need a specialty sized hammock?
