If you have a 'newer' sewing machine - one built since 1970 - it might be able to do a 'Triple Stitch' or 'Lock Stitch'.
In this stitch, the machine makes two forward stitches, then backstitches one, then two forward, etc.
Result: Every stitch is 'locked' - no need to back up to keep your stitch line from ravelling. Not something you'd want to use all the time, but it is really handy for sewing webbing and other 'can't fail' areas.
The pic is not that clear, but the stitching looks like it is just done with heavier thread than usual.
Machine is Pfaff 1222E.
