    Bugnets, Bugnets, Bugnets...tips?

I made the fronkey bug net out of tulle. Cost less than $5. Very light but very fragile. After a few uses I somehow poked a hole in it...how I don't know. Maybe I snagged it on something. Anyway, I discovered I did not like the bottom entry. I flipped it upside down and modified it to a TED. That worked great until I did the stupid thing...I didn't spread my hammock and I fell through my underquilt. Not only did I feel stupid, but I also fell through the tulle bugnet. So I used it as a FUG (full) instead of a HUG (half). Worked well, easy in and out. Now I'm going to modify the tulle to make a HUG. Ha! what an adventure in making a bug net. I'm getting my money's worth out of that tulle.

I'm using it on a DIY Ghost. Any tips on making a HUG for it?

Tulle is good for ultralight disposable projects. But for gear that want to rely on performing for years to come (barring you don't sit in again) go with no-see-um net or skeeter net.

Custom fit the net to your hammock for best results. Hang the hammock, fill with pillows or similar bulky lightweight items to replicate your body's girth. I hang my hammock indoors for prototyping. A door frame and chair can do the trick. Since I am not climbing into the hammock, the supports do not need to be overly strong, just enough to hold a few pounds of pillows. If you convenient trees, you could always hang there for fitting on prototype items.
