using a golf shaft for a toggle

Hi all! I couldn't find this in search so thought I'd ask. I used to be a golf club fitter/builder and have a bunch of shafts lying around both in graphite and steel. I was contemplating using the tip end (the part that goes into the club head) as a toggle for my adjustable ridge line. I'm not sure I"d trust it as a suspension toggle though the tip end of a graphite shaft can take a good deal of torsion, I still wouldn't trust it to hold up any real weight.

Any ideas on this. Most shafts have anywhere up to a 4" trimming section, so I could easily make a 2" toggle out of one. Obviously the steel would be heavier, but was also considering the graphite one as well.

    All thoughts are welcome.

Sticks, PVC tubing and arrow shafts have been stated to be used, I use arrow shafts myself. No reason a golf club shaft shouldn't do the job.

I think you'll be fine. Just remember to hang off the knot, not the toggle.

I use aluminum arrow shafts... They are crazy thin and I could bend a 4" piece with my hands if I really wanted to... But your gotta think about what a toggle is doing... It is being evenly compressed by the tree strap... So the high torsion as you describe proves that a golf swing is more than likely excerting a lot more stress than you laying in your hammock...

I have seen pencils, just a good old regular #2 pencil used... Surely your golf shaft is stronger than a pencil...

My bro-in-law is a golf repair guy.
I have a lot of time hanging on the golf toggles. They work fine.
    I got a video somewhere....
I mentioned it before in a few threads.
I tested all varieties, alum, fiberglass, graphites, carbon fiber. All are good.

I used a chapstick and cigarret lighter once. They were a little short but did the job.
