Red face What fabric to use

I am new to hammocking and I would like to make my first hammock so the questions I present are:

What material...? I have heard of different materials but is rip stop the most popular? I want to make a double layer hammock so is 1.1oz rips top my best bet?

Where to buy the RS? The Hancock fabrics by me has some but I don't like the feel or the color, even the camo is cheesy looking! What are some cheap websites for RS or other fabric that doesn't charge a crazy shipping fee? Does that website have other of the things I would need like webbing?

Is a Dutch clip and toggle a good set up for the tree straps?

    Thanks you for the help

Very good, quick, personal service. Honest shipping rates. Recommended.
BTW, I bought 'seconds' fabric and it looked fine to me.

BTW, all ripstop will seem quite 'cheesy'/thin if you are accustomed to heavier fabrics, IMO. However, I do think the stuff you will get from guys like Scott is reliable.

BTW (I use a different system) I think the Dutch clips and cinch buckles with webbing looks like one of the simplest systems out there, so perhaps you should order your suspension parts from him....

I've been going through simply light designs. Free shipping and faster than any vendor I've purchased from.

To add to the original question to help me get more out of this thread; what is the difference between polyester and nylon? I see the poly offered from time to time but have never known the advantages and disadvantages.

This is coming from a guy who usually make shooting gear, not yet made a hammock....though am looking at the different designs for bridges and materials..

the difference between nylon and polyester; is that nylon do exhibit a measurable amount of stretch whereas polyester doesn't stretch as much. This is why people advocate Polyester webbing over nylon webbing, although nylon ripstop is OK for fabrics, as being able to stretch will help with the fit and the shape, depending on the fabric's rating. There's a handy chart somewhere that will tell you what weight is comfortable for what material, single or double layer
