    1.75mm Vs 2.2mm Zing-it

Is there any significant reason to go for one over the other?

With the exception of Strength and Weight, it appears to be a personal preference thing, but I wanted to get the thoughts of others before purchasing.

From what I can tell, the strength is only a difference of 150 lbs (500 Vs 650), which is plenty strong (for either line) for anything short of hammock suspension, correct?

Weight is listed as 0.16 Vs 0.12 lbs/100ft. For people like me that prefer grams, that is only an 18g difference for 100 ft.

So, unless you are a super gram counter, or have very little space in your pack, it seems the 2.2mm would be a generally better pick at least in terms of handling with bare hands, and ease of splicing.

On the other hand, the smaller diameter may bite better as a prussik in other lines, as it would have a larger thickness difference. (I may be wrong on that. Please advise)

Assuming you could only have one diameter for all your Zing-it, what is your reason for going with one over the other?

    Thanks!

They both work fine although if you happen to use Dutch Flyz on your ridge line then 1.75 works better.

I would choose 1.75mm... dutchware is made for it.

The 1.75 also fits in the mini Line-loks if you use those for guyline tensioners.

    The 2.2 may not.

Different diameter rope will result in a better bite. You can use the same diameter line to make prusiks just fine. Just use three loops and take the time to dress the knot properly.

My aging eyes don't focus so well when splicing 1.75mm. I do it but, splicing the 2.2mm line is a more pleasant experience.

If you plan on using Dutch Hooks, only the 1.75mm will fit in the hook end of it.
