I did not take it that way by no means, just saying that I am aware of the potential conditions and that I appreciated the concern. It should be a great concern of the group to not have any inexperienced backpackers on a trip such as this due to the potential for harm as well as strain on the group. I have done many nights in less than safe winter conditions during my time in the Marines as well as for fun. I am also a certified EMT as well as certified in Wilderness First Aid. I say this for no other reason than to let you all know that i hope to be an asset and not a liability. I am a cold weather junkie

Why not invite her? This getaway weekend will be "memorable".

It's all good - more like Purely Stupid Action.

Excellent background MountnMan, you have the night watch. And can you provide each guest with hot chocolate with their morning wake up call?

TN> 2014 Roan High Knob Higher & Colder Hang

OK, I have finally thawed out since the one I attended years ago so I guess it is time to try it again. MM save me my regular trees on the leeward side of the knob.

I remember your last hang,,and some of the gear several of you used to keep warm..and the one thing I wanted to get for my escapades outdoors in the winter, and hunting,,was Wisenber's pair of Neo overshoes. And MM,,your posting of this future hang, of which, you know, I am keeping my eye on, as I want to try and make this myself,,went to their website this morning,,and the NEO overshoe is on sale now! Scarfed myself a pair as they give a real good discount now,,and free shipping! Check it out.

My order was placed this morning.

I went with the Adventure Overshoe,,as it weighs 2.2 lbs, and is rated at 0 degrees,,,I considered for my second choice tho, the Neo Naviagator 5,,as it was 15" tall,,with an additional 5" of top folding gaitor covering making it 20" inches of leg coverage,,but,,weighed in a 3.3 lbs and rated at -20 degrees. I think Wisenber got his with the spikes in the bottoms for walking on ice but not sure,,and someone else last year, posted the pair they had..but I wanted these for sitting in tree stands also, and in wearing lite hiking shoes inside them with thick smartwool type socks. Mulitusage as I could always throw a lite pair of gators over them if needed..or with wearing a pair of insulated snow pants that I have also,,that have gaitors inside the legs that the boots would work with as well. Lots of options and if you didn't want to wear them, and just your hiking shoes,,pack them up and tie them to outside of the pack. Had my eye on them since MM and all of them made their trip report last Feb,,and now see them on sale with a nice savings. Might mention,,they will also fit to snowshoes,,as I have 2 pair of them as well.

Ha! Her contract is, "I will go camping when there is ZERO % chance of precipitation and Temps range from 58-62 F. And no tornadoes."

I once took her camping in a tornado at LBL. It was before Smart Phones!

She'd hate US anyway! Not nearly as forgiving as Traffic...

Well, she'd like MM...everyone likes him.
Afoot and light-hearted, I take to the open road,
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me, leading wherever I choose.
