    Not enough love...

Not enough love shown for WL's quilts!

That's right...I look here and I see thread after thread about the awesome tarps that Marty makes. And I have ZERO doubt that they are indeed awesome.

But there's not enough love shown here for his quilts.

Here's the deal. I'm cheap. I had to kick back a lot of lunch money to afford to pick up a UQ/TQ combo. Had to make darned sure that what I got was gonna work in some seriously cold environments...at least down to the single digits.

Not to mention that...as I told Marty...I'm shaped a lot like a fireplug. Got his full length UQ with some extra down, and a custom quilt that's standard length, but extra wide to fit this here fireplug.

That's why I went with Wilderness Logics. (That, and I like their tag!)

I am REALLY looking forward to some cold weather now...cannot wait to put this setup to the test!

So let's see some more love for his quilts!

Hear, hear! I have to second that.
WL quilts are every bit as good as their tarps, and at a great price.
The removable fleece patch that they have standard on all their 3 season TQs is a brilliant addition.
And super comfy under my chin when I hop back in at 3AM.
The stitchery is world class and the quality control is top notch.
Marty's Angels really know how to work magic with their thread injectors.
The consistent quality is a point of pride at Wilderness Logics.
I always get more than my money's worth from WL.
That's why I use WL gear exclusively, and will continue to do so.
Did I mention that he has Angels working with him!

I got the summer series combo and love it. It has kept me warm into the high 30's and packs down real nice. I have a 3/4 quilt on its way for my lady, actually should be here tomorrow. Marty seems to be a real nice guy and is quick to respond emails and to deliver the goods.

I'm going to subscribe to this thread, because WL wasn't on my radar but it is now. Anyone know if there will be a holiday sale this year? hint, hint....

EDIT: just answered my own questions regarding compressed size and setup by scrolling to the next page of the string. Nice stuff!

    Thumbs down

WL quilts would get my love if they were true to their advertised features.
When I order a stock (no customization) 3/4 20°F UQ, advertised as being 55" long, I expect to receive exactly this length quilt.... I based decisions, and sized other components of my sleep system based on this particular specification....

When the quilt arrives, and the excited new owner measures it at a tad under 52" while the UQ is being exposed to severe stretching (as though the quilt is being quartered), the owner's excitement all but vanishes. The owner starts pondering over thoughts of the sort that if the length is not matching what was specified, perhaps other things ain't either - like the fill power of down used, or the baffle height, or the temperature rating, etc....

Love has got to be earned. Reputation is hard to build and so easy to lose.....

Is it possible that my experience is shared by others, and this is why WL quilts don't get the love on this forum that Owl said they merit?

Just picked up a Summer Series UQ from Caveman but haven't had a chance to use it. It's still too HOT. But from the quality of the Tadpole I picked up and used hard this summer and working with Marty on a special project I expect no problems with the UQ.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
