I’m not trying to sell this spot to you, just the facts as I know them. It’s just that every time I see this place I think group hang and now this thread came along.

I ride through this spot every few months, it's a nice slow ride. Usually stop, make coffee, fool around and back on the road. The most campsites I’ve seen occupied at onetime was three.
Figueroa hasn’t had water for years, currently no fires allowed either.
What it does have is paved parking, picnic tables and trees everywhere. It’s a clean well maintained gov park with nobody around checking on you. The road is narrow but coming from the north it’s paved all the way,offers great views too.

As riders you may be interested to know it’s 20 miles from the Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum

I’d rather try a spot new to me but I know this could work so I’m posting it.
Hope others will post a spot or two also.

Ahhh our first So Cal hanger! Welcome to the, hopefully, growing fray Will. Great idea to post up camp possibilities...perhaps some can use this fine ride excuse to recon other sites for us.

As for camp with no fire; that seems to be the norm in this dry time. Perhaps by the time this falls into place fires will be allowed again. I'd prefer a camp with potable water too...maybe even pit toilets.

Henry Coe State Park (South of San Jose off 101) is another option. But it would be more of a ride there then backpack in.
But there are lot's of places to hang.

I've stopped here many times on my way to / from backpacking out of Nira (which is a bit further into the wilderness) and always stop at Davey Brown campground which is right in between the two. DB would handle a respectable group no prob, and the toilets are clean. No potable water, but one of the nearby streams may still be holding. Besides.... time it right and one of us "drivers" may be willing to bring in plenty plenty plenty of water.

I'll watch the thread to see if my neck of the woods stays on the table, if the dates work, I'd show.

Bill perhaps you could recon a bit farther North but still in range for your area for the No Cal folk? I'd enjoy a campfire with a spit and whittle session.

So in thinking about this thread, and in planning for an upcoming trip, I stumbled on this bit of bummer news: FIRE RESTRICTION

There is a list of approved "use sites" that still allow fires for now, but there's not a lot on there. Oddly enough though, the Davey Brown that I mentioned before is on the list allowing for fires still. Looks like the Gov shutdown has made the list inaccessible for now. Still thinking....

Prolly this Spring would be the best target time as the dryness should be over...we hope. I'd like to hear if there is anything North of Morro Bay along Hwy 1 that would fit the bill. Keep thinking Bill, I'm really interested in a Central Coast recon.
