Welcome from Montgomery and as others have said, thanks for your service. There is going to be a group hang at mt Cheha in October if you'd like to join. I'm hoping to bring my son. It will be our first group hang.
Greetings from the PNW... I retired from the Army in '05... been hammock camping since '10.

Love savage gulf! Lots of great spots over there, I just hiked up to Hobbs Cabin about 3-4 weeks ago.
Welcome to your new addiction from just over around FortPayne.
Where ever you go,
There you are.
Hey welcome to the forum! I'm in Huntsville as well. I just moved home about a year ago after being gone for 20 years as a Navy vet. Anyway, I slept outside in my ENO hammock on Saturday nite, with a Thermarest tech blanket and a DIY poncho liner underquilt. I'm not sure how cold it got on Saturday nite, but it was fairly chilly when I went to bed, and I was warm all nite. I'm sure as it gets colder I will need to beef up my system.

Welcome. I'm in Huntsville as well. Like Brad said, if you're setup is good to about 20F you should be able to hang through the winter here.
