Smile Newbie with HH on order

Just wanted to say Hi. This week I'll be receiving my first camping hammocks. A HH Explorer Deluxe, plus a free Scout hammock thanks to Hennessy's current special program.

My college-aged daughter and I are planning a 1 or 2 night backpacking trip and I'm eager to use the hammocks. This forum has been a great source of info.

Welcome! Got my HH Explorer UL 2 Monday's ago as well. AWESOME hammock and AWESOME experience sleeping in one. Haven't tried camping it yet, unless you count a night in the back yard! I CANNOT wait to get on the trail!

    Hi Ron,

Don't forget to do a test set up before you head out.

Watch out for dead trees and dead hanging branches and most of all have fun.

    Thanks everyone.

Forgot to mention that I have an undercover and pad coming as well. I sleep cold, very cold. It's the one thing that made me question if hammocking is for me, so I figured I better get some additional insulation right from the get go.

I'm assuming you ordered the HH SuperShelter? I ordered that to go along with my Explorer UL and it works great! Be sure to get a space blanket to go along with the setup, though. Even Tom Hennessy himself recommends the SB. When I did my first hang in my back yard, the temps got down to 40*F and I was warm in my +25 synthetic bag the entire night! It's a great setup and very light!

I assume you put the space blanket under the underpad?

no no no... on top. Check the Gimmee "Super" Shelter Vid. That should help when it arrives.
