are the tree straps possibly sliding down the tree? this is strange, I dont see how your hammock fabric would be stretching from 3 ft up to almost on the ground.......

I think he's just getting used to the whole hammocking thing. I set up my hammock at what I THINK is the proper height, which is always too low. Then I make a couple of adjustments to get it to the proper distance from the ground. That's what's going on here, I think.

All 3 of my Hennessy's stretched quite a bit for the first couple uses (nights slept in them), then went away never to return. Not sure if they stretched as much as you have seen.

Mine are over 4 years old so I don't know if the fabric Tom used or uses has changed any.

I'm chalking it up to inexperience. Some of it is probably related to all the equipment being new and getting the initial break in. I obviously need to get out camping more and get some experience with the hammock. I also want to point out that I Dutch's customer service has been excellent. I really love how quickly I can set up the hammock and adjust it without having to tie and untie knots. Thanks for the advice guys.

I wanted to follow up on this post. I've gotten a few hammock trips in since I posted and have gained some experience with hanging a hammock. I've figured out I need to hang the hammock higher than I thought and it seems the stretch in my hennessy has finally broken in. I have to say that I love the whoopie hook suspension. Setup and adjustment is fast and easy. My son has a scout with the stock suspension, and its a royal PITA to set up. I plan to order a whoopie hook suspension for it this week. Thanks for a great product.

    Thanks for the update.
It is always nice to hear that things worked out and what the culprit was.
