Idea for DIY section

I am an aspiring DIY'er and utilize this website for ideas, instructions, and help quite often (okay, I check it more than facebook ). I love the do it your self section and everyone is so helpful and there are tons of ideas out there making my DIY list huge.

However, I am a very organized individual and I was thinking about the DIY section and thought of an idea for it. Perhaps the DIY section would benefit from having some sort of subforum organization, similar to the Hangout's, Campouts, and Trip's section. Perhaps a sub forum for all talk DIY UQ's, all talk DIY TQ's, DIY hammocks, Accessories, General (for something that encompasses all), etc. etc.

This way, all the information is more organized and more easily searched by folks like me.

Although, I realize this is a huge under taking, and the moderators have tons on their plate already (and this is not their day job!). Just a suggestion I thought was worth mentioning. Thanks for your consideration and excellent work on the forum. I thought it was worth mentioning because I was one of the firsts (as far as I know) to suggest listing post number for easy reference to the pif spreadsheet and it ended up being utilized. See, my organization might be out of control....::sigh:: lol.

The 'Search' function is pretty good, and will get you most of what you want, I think.

I kinda like reading stuff that I don't think I need to know - like about UQs even though I don't see myself needing one any time soon, etc.....so browsing works for me.

IMO, there just isn't a need for this. I already wish they would do away with the Pads and UQ subforum. This is coming from a guy who likes MYOG almost as much as backpacking.

I always have trouble with that search function...I think I need to figure out advanced mode.

True, that sticky does encompass exactly what my idea would accomplish.

I think I will just keep saving links and adding them to my many folders and sub folders organizing all of the diy information. Lol.

The phpBB search function (which is usually backed by the MySQL search function) is limited when it comes to our short acronyms.

Try using google to search the site. Simply put site:hammockforums.net in your search request.
