Ummmmm... everyone has already ratted on themselves by putting what hammock, tarp, uq, and tq they have under your names. All the wives/gf's have to do is google each one to find how much it all costs... but for the record... when I complete my set.. it'll be 1000-1200 not including my pack and all the little extras we never mention

LOL Wasn't sure if anyone would "bite.". My easy guess was $1,000. Things like $12.95 for a pair of Dutch clips add up. Surprised myself yesterday while looking through one of the hammock gear drawers: I DO have a pair of Dutch biners!

Then there's the elephant hook that I have no idea how to use. It's all YOUR fault! You guys keep posting how wonderful this or that is and I just click and buy! Mmmmmm. How much is the stuff you don't use worth?

Got the whoopies but went back to straps. Got extra straps. Got an all-in-one tarp ridge line. The worst part is finding things and not knowing what they are. I put them in zip locks with notes; i.e. " AHE continuous loop."

Putting together my most expensive pieces I have a rig at about $1000 or just a shade under. Altogether, I have a few grand in gear. Obviously I'm a single man.

It could be worse, you could be like me, spent a small fortune getting my tent set up where I'm happy and now getting ready to convert to hammock...here we go again!...had to take a part time job to finance my bad habits.

How this for worse, The misses cant sleep in hammock, sooo I have to continue to purchase tent stuff so she can come with me... And of course she dose not understand the term ultra light.. When we go camping for 2 nights, my Cherokee is packed, and I mean packed. When I go for 5 or 6 days? I don't even have to fold the rear seat down

    And your point is?

I travel solo and the Highlander is packed. Don't see what your problem is!

Preparing for 6-week trip with Aliner Popup (hitting three hangs) and 3 doggies. Hammocking gear, kayak and gear, stroller for old, blind dog, dog food, dog treats, dog fleece etc coats, plenty of non-perishables cos it's not always easy to stop in at WM to stock up and leave dogs in car for long (at least weather will be cooler), guidebooks (plus books to read and leave at CG book exchange racks), cooking stuff for sites with electric, cooking stuff for more primitive camping, lots of CDs, DVDs (when you're alone you need to entertain yourself... I wasn't in the Girl Scouts for nothing!

Plus people love me as I always have what they might need to borrow!

Right around $13.59 per ounce for a 20* three season kit that easily fits in an Osprey Exos 46 and keeps me warm, dry, and happy. Special thanks to Adam, Dutch, Brandon, Even, and ThermaResst for making my kit possible and Shug for showing me the way.
