    Arrow VA>Three Ridges Hike>Nov 15th-17th>Hike-N-Hang

So this is the 3rd trip I am planning to do this fall and wanted to share it with everybody else to see if they might be interested in going also. Me and DayGlow have done this hike before with heavy backpacks and out-of-shape legs, and it kicked our butts. We learned from our mistakes and we are ready for round two. Half of this hike is on the AT so expect to encounter rocky trails for the better half of it. It has some decent ascents and descents so expect this hike to be a bit challenging. The views are spectacular and plenty of water sources along the way. There is even an outhouse and day shelter at one of the camp site locations. I liked this hike so much, I plan to do this hike yearly. It is located in Jefferson National Forest and the trail head cords are: 37.90156, -78.98524

There is decent parking at the trailhead but this trail is busy so expect there to be others there taking up parking spaces. Best to get there before lunch or by lunch.

Here is the link to the Hike info: Three Ridges - Nellysford, Virginia

Trail Length: 14.4 miles, can be a bit rocky in places along the trail. Recommend hiking poles or staffs. Hikingupward.com rates trail difficulty 5 out of 6 but views to back it up with a rating of 5 out of 6 also. Well we look forward to seeing you on the trail. Hope yall can make it..

Some pictures of what to expect for the trail conditions.

This is the Tye River and is not part of the trail loop but can be visited by simply staying on the AT heading southwest towards Crabtree Falls Hwy

    Ahhhhhhhh.....your killing me man!!!!!!!

    Ok, deep breath here-------------

    So the scoop, I'm off work the 15th, 16th, 17th....but I work the 14th and 18th........

This trip is a "POSSIBILITY" for me, but my attendance is based on many, many, many factors!

I am going to sign up, but X I will PM you with some more info.

    Now for my question....

This hike looks fantastic, scenery beautiful but what is your plan?

3 day 2 night trip obviously due too the dates, but where are you planning on staying for the nights? daily mileages? What time are you planning on heading off from the trail head? Or getting to the trail head?

That is the greatest thing about this trail. There is so many options. There are two trailheads at each end so if you dont want to do the loop you can simply keep heading south and hit the Tye River trail head and get a shuttle from there or do loop back via the blue blaze trail and meet back up at the parking lot. There is camping spots every mile even though the map doesn't show it. I am completely open to any ideas...

I know it isnt marked on the map but that first camera icon, heading from the parking lot is also a camp site. Actually all the cameras have campsites there. Or at least places where others have been camping...not sure if the park acknowledges them or not.

    Absolutely beautiful.

As I'm trying to plan a family trip to the Linville Gorge for this fall's changing of the leaves, you pull these pics out. I love VA and my bro lives on the coast.

Might need to change the plans, now...
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Does anybody have a campsite location preference for each night?
