True. That place we stopped with your son was probably the nicest place around down there. And it wasn't all that nice.
You know, it's funny … I like and appreciate almost everything artisanal or craft you can think of. Beer, spirits, wine, bread, meats, etc. But I've never liked cheese. And it's not for lack of trying - I just can't stand most anything other than the most mild cheeses. Mozzarella, American (not really cheese), Ricotta, Parm … if I'm feeling adventurous I might have cheddar on my burger.
I guess if I'm gonna clog my arteries, it will be with animal fat.
As of now the NJDEP website still lists High Risk for fire and a Stage 2 ban - but says it was last updated as of 11/25 - so before all this rain. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they decide to re-evaluate in the next 2 days.
In light of all this:
I don't think it makes any sense to try and plan any sort of communal dinner for Friday night, since we likely won't know until we are heading out whether we can have a fire to cook it on.
So, if the fire ban is lifted, I'll be planning on hitting the supermarket on the way down to the trailhead, and grabbing something to grill that night. Feel free to do the same, but play it by ear.
FIRE BAN IS OFF !!!
Just talked to the Ranger Station.
They just took it down today.
We are good to go!
FYI, Ranger Station is closed tomorrow.(Thursday) No surprise but I was going to drive down and grab my permit in the AM because I'll be hiking or paddling in from the other end of the park.
Still looking at Sat, Fri is a maybe.
