A few people mentioned that the WB is a double hammock. Is it possible to put a thermarest between the layers or is it sealed?
It's a double layer if you order it that way, and putting a pad between the layers is what it's meant for. Stuffed my 40" evazote in there just the other day.
Silly question but I gotta ask.
Since the WB already comes with a structural ridge line, that means every hang should be the same right?
Also, since the creator of the hammock added the ridge line. Would it be based on what he finds comfortable. Is there a formula for the length of a ridge line?
It seems to hammocks like Hennesys you can't change the sag, doesn't that preclude people who like to hang with a lot of sag?
I'm still trying to get the hang of this whole hammock thing. I'm sleeping in my hammock on a ten day backpacking trip and want to make sure I've got it all down by then.
the warbonnet ridgeline is really easy to replace. If you didn't like the amount of sag in the hammock, you could very easily take the ridgeline out and put your own in, at whatever length you wanted.
HOWEVER, if you used a ridgeline that was much longer, I would imagine you could rip the bug net if you stretched it tight, and if you used a ridgeline that was much shorter, the netting would sag a lot. I'm sure you could put some clips on it or something to tighten it up, but it's something to think about.
Also, a ridge line won't make every hang exactly the same, but it will make them close. I usually hang my blackbird with a fairly loose ridgeline, so even when I lay in the hammock, the ridgeline isn't completely taut. If you hang it so the ridgeline is guitar string tight, there will be a noticeable difference in the way the hammock lays.
What he said.
Trust nobody!
And then some!!!!!
Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
I third that. Hanging in mine tonite at in-laws. Just way better than a couch man. Depending on how tall you are I think the ridgline will be ok for ya. I'm 5'11" tall 185 and have still more room to stretch out in even if I was taller. You will find by attaching your webbing to the trees higher up like 6 or 6 1/2 feet and the straps go to your hammock on a downhill angle (bout 30 degrees) you'll be comfy cozy wilt the right amount of sag. The farther the trees the higher the straps. Ideal distance for trees are between 15 to 18 feet. Good luck . And don't use dead trees .
