    Thursday - T-Day

I don't have family near-by and "MAY" set-up Thursday afternoon. If I do so, will gather firewood and <Hopefully!> have a good warm bed of coals as everyone comes in on Friday.

IIRC, b/c it is so close to Quantico Marine Base, cell phone reception is "blacked out".
    Happy Trails,
    J.D.

I never drink water. I'm afraid it will become habit-forming.

I work at Quantico, and they do not black out cell reception. There are dead spots though, even for radio, it was not too long ago that FM would be fuzzy in parts of 95 around QT.

    COLD!!!

I live just a couple miles North of PW Forest Park. It was 21 degrees this morning at 6AM. Looks like I am going to get a really good test of my cold weather gear.

Neither Vz nor AT&T work very well at the camp site. Single bar, sometimes. There is reception in other areas of the park.

OldMart's spot on, plenty of water - as long as it doesn't freeze!

That said, I would still filter. I stay there several times a year, and my prefilter always has rust residue on it after filtering there.

Bathrooms are nice, and within pretty easy walking distance. All sites have a fire pit, picnic type table/bench, and lantern pole. Trees in the camp sites can be very wide at times, so might want to have extenders for your webbing. I'm bringing an extra pair of 1.5" ones if someone needs them, I ordered two pairs from Arrowhead - very nice.

While I was planning on being there both nights, looks like I'll only be able to make it Saturday - too many odds and ends to wrap up with work.

I don't have a water filter. I hope someone will let me use theirs.

    Looking forward to it!

I'm sure someone will; you can always count on me for sure on Saturday.

When do you plan on arriving?

Planning for Friday early afternoon. If all goes as planned that is.

Also, could someone throw an extra Dutch oven into their car? I want to do dutch oven cornbread for the potluck.

And lastly, are bears an issue in PWNF?

Does this crummy weather get anybody else more excited for the hang like it does me?
