I live near Santa fe, in a small village called Pecos. Great place for fishing, although I don't fish myself. We had intense rains here and the river is really high, and this summer we also had bad forest fires, so most of the forest is (was) closed. The Pecos wilderness is definetely one of the most beautiful in northern New Mexico. You should call the Rangers here 505-757-6121 and inquire about open campsites and quality of river. Leaving for a trip north of taos in about an hour....
Also you shold know, most camping here will be above 8000ft, so be prepared for cold nights.

My Son and I are heading up to Wheeler Peak and camping at Williams Lake. Any suggestions for hanging sites?
