I've been making a bunch of hammock prototypes out of some orange 1.9 oz. uncalendered ripstop that somebody sold on the forum. Unfortunately, I won't be selling any of them, but will have some at MAHHA to get feedback on different designs. I like 1.9 oz for a hammock fabric. I'd suggest you look at owf, quest, diygearsupply and other fabric vendors for some 1.9 orange with DWR, then take gmcttr up on his generous offer.

Here's another source which I know nothing about. It's 74" wide if you want wide. All of their photos of orange fabric look washed out. I'm guessing it is a lot brighter but you might want to ask.

A couple of oranges, 60" wide.

I have an orange one that was my first DIY hammock and I use it during hunting season. I purchased the fabric at Joann Fabric.

    Re: Orange hammock?

I believe I'm going to take gmcttr up on his generous offer as soon as I can locate & afford the orange fabric.

I may go with a normal orange instead of blaze orange though.

JoAnne's had orange in 1.9 oz sport nylon. I found my old orange hammock the other day. It was a no sew that will probably become a hammock chair and stuff sacks. ;-)
    YMMV

I used this to get myself to clean, oil and tuneup a Necchi SN sewing machine I had on the shelf for awhile. Now it's waiting on a project to give it a good tryout.

My standard advice on Joanns is to always use a 40-50% off coupon which are almost always available.
