Dry sacks with the Molly Mac Pack

I have gotten these as presents by "well intentioned" family. They are a little heavy and not water proof. The seams are the leak points. Give them a shake, puff of air, roll the top down and they will slowly leak. Apply a little pressure and you can hear the hiss. I use the to store and sort now.

I sure wish there were some really lightweight dry sacks available which had a couple of little belts on them...

Lightweight Molly Mac Gear Molly Pouches attach to the PALS array, and are water resistant, with binding on the seams inside. They work very well in wet conditions, especially if you take the approach of using a waterproof bag inside.

When cinching down a sealed, waterproof stuff sack, it is important to first remove as much of the air inside as possible. I think that is what causes the rips.

If you use a stuff sack that has the little loops, you still have to cinch it tight, or the contents might shift. I found that they are most useful when unpacking, during the time that the cinch straps are loose.
