If anyone wants to hike up thatta way, there's the Fork Mt. Loop, 17 miles and uses the East Fork to complete the loop....pure beauty, or a longer loop for those like me that just hate coming out of the woods!

Y'all don't know me as I'm new here, but my wife and I might try to make it. We're camping at Cloudland a couple of weeks prior, but we might be able to swing another trip the 25th.
Sounds like there's gonna be a lot of new faces there. I look for forward to meeting all of you.

I would call for info on that trail. The last I heard (which was not too recent) that trail had a bunch of downed Hemlocks and was difficult or impossible to hike.
The hike in from Burells Ford is extremely easy. I don't remember a single hill on the trail until you get close to the camp...but my memory fails me at times. Hope I can make this one!
A group of us did a loop hike in April I think it was and had no trouble coming down the East Fork Trail. At least no trouble that I recall.

This is a very nice area. I enjoyed hanging close to the river. That was my first overnight hang.
Straight out of Clayton.
Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.
I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.
Let it be known that I plan to be there. What is the attitude toward new folks? We love them. We all were new once, skeptical of going to our first group event. What did we find there? Just folks, folks who welcomed us and became friends. Fear not, come on in, the water's fine.
I'm hoping I can make this one. I love that area. Still waiting to see when the hubbies surgery will be to replace his knees. ouch!!!! I just hope the new knees will make his life much easier and painless.
Hope to see you all out there.
