Thank you for the info :-)
I'm getting excited to be out in the woods. Gonna be fun, you bet!
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
I'll be so ready for this! Another wedding this coming weekend (daughters) and all the festivities that go with it.......then NEXT weekend just makes me dream of just lolly gagging and maintaining a dedicated Whiskey Watch over our camp in earnest. I'll be ready to relax and enjoy such a beautiful weekend. I hope to enjoy every minute of the stay.

Ummm...I just thought about something..I don't intend for this to spark any political debates...but since the hang site is on federal land...is it open right now? Hopefully by go time the gvmnt will be up and running..but if not and it is closed do we have a contingency plan? Then again if its open then of course this post is just wasting more space on the inter webs. Does anyone know if that will possibly be an issue?
Well, here is the answer-->http://www.fs.usda.gov/scnfs/
Any ideas for a back up site?
I really hope that everything works out for this hang. Such a nice area and a great bunch of people.
Straight out of Clayton.
Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.
I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.
That's good to know, I've only been there twice and have come in from the GA side down war woman rd and the SC side, but I forget the name of that road. I would doubt they have the roads blocked, I just wanted to make sure it was legal to be there if Washington isn't back online.
Me and my kids are heading up to the cabin on the 24th along with my parents, my sister and her son. My wife is heading to Mrytle Beach to shop. She was telling me I should just leave the kids with the grandparents and head on down to the hang. Sounds like a plan to me. I'll be taking all my gear just in case I can swing it. If I'm not mistaken, I can get on 107 around Sylva and head south. We will be just north of waynesville. Going to try my best to make it. This would be my first hang so sort of looking forward to it.
Aim for the moon, if you miss, at least you will still be among the stars.
Has anyone been to BF lately? At the last hang, I think the Burrell's Ford Rd/FS 708 sign was down - the road was unmarked.
