UQ length?

I plan on purchasing an 0 degree underquilt for winters here. is longer better? will it make more " polar pod" without the cocoon ?
weight and pack space are not an issue.
just curious for some education, in case I missed something. cottage vendors feel free to chip in because I am not sure I know who al sells what on HF

I prefer a full length under quilt because I don't like the use of pads and I'm a cold sleeper. I have the hammock gear 0 degree incubator and can feel the heat on my feet. If weight and pack size aren't a problem I would defiantly go with a full length.

As much as I like my 3/4 phoenix 3-season UQ, I like my full length summer UQ better. I too hate to carry a pad for my feet. If you are tall, definitely go with a full-length. I am short, so the 3/4 phoenix is almost full length for me, but I still like my full length quilt the best, even though it does cost me a few more ounces of packweight.
I think full length quilts have less chance of allowing cold air in and they affect your hammocks lie less than a 3/4 length quilt does.
Bottom line, IMO, if pack weight and the added bulk are a nonissue, go full length.

For winter I would use a full length. You don't need to get one any bigger than you need. Talk to one of the cottage vendors and tell them your height and they can make one to your specs.

good advice. contacted 3 of the vendors I am interested in. Sidewinder I notice you use and incubator and pod system. what do you find are pros and cons to each? what do you think of a longer than standard length UQ to bridge the difference between UQ and pods? is it a reasonable concept? yes I am going into sub zero temperatures. I actually plan on picking the coldest weekends of this winter even with a wind chill. if it is consistant than means below -40* and adding a windchill.
