The New River would probably work - it seems pretty adjustable. If you are really interested, I'm sure KAQ could tell you.

Sturgeon, my tarp is 10x10 and not silnylon (wish it was). The basic set up is a lean to based on Cliff Jacobson's and is quite stable in wind. I've not tried the gable set up your link sent me to, but it looks interesting and something I'm going to try out in the backyard! With respect to using prussik hitches, Cliff has a neat trick: tie about 1' of cord to all of the perimeter loops leaving two free ends (using a larks head?). Take the "end" loops and rap one of the free ends two or three times around the ridge line going one way from the tie out loop and the other end two or three times going the other way. Then simple tie the two free ends together using an over hand knot and bow, just like tying your shoes. What you end up with is a prussik which can tighten the tarp along the ridge line. Then simply tie overhand bows around the ridge line on all of the loops along the ridge line. Quick to set up and quick to take down.

Thanks, Chief! Looks like I'll be a student of tarpology this fall. Looking forward to trying this out.
    Cheers

Love it. Thanks for sharing. Lived here all my life yet haven't had a trip like that in the BWCA. I need to get busy!
