    I checked out a local outdoor-ey store tonight, they're fairly new. they had 3; byer maine brazillian, byer lite and hennesey scout.. I think I'd like to try a hammock for a night or two before winter comes.. the byer lite was $24.. so that isn't bad..

    Another welcome from Ontario. It took a night or two to get over the "weirdness" of sleeping in the hammock. Cold weather will add another twist to it for sure. If you can get some blue ccf camping pad, put that underneath with a sleeping bag on top and you'll probably be ok, at least for the fall. Once you get it, though, it's amazing. I can't usually sleep on my back on a bed but I sure can in a gathered end hammock. Every inch of you feels supported and if you're warm, it's awesome. If you or your partner are handy with a sewing machine (called a thread-injector on these forums), a gathered-end hammock is a very easy project that you can finish quickly. Lots of examples in the DIY forum. Best of luck and don't give up - just keep asking for help.

    I doubt I'd be able to camp, because of my bad back, if I didn't use my hammock. I like it more than my Tempurpedic mattress. As far as comfort goes;
    Wider = flatter lay
    Longer = less shoulder squeeze.

    Welcome.
