What do you use/how do you carry your shelter system?

    Hey guys viper here!

Well just curious after messing around with a decent few ways to carry my shelter system. Tarp hammock guy lines/stakes and bug net if needed.

I have tried a few different bags a bag for suspension a bag for hammock a bag for tarp. I found that annoying and finding my self losing bags all the time and got annoyed with it. Did this in a few different ways and gave up on that.

So I had the idea (I'm sure more people do it just I came up with the idea for it for my self) but I was also thinking water proof for my shelter system because I do a lot of kayaking and I don't like my stuff being wet lol
So the solution I came up with was for my rig was a small sea to summit compression bag. I can get my whole shelter system smashed down into the size of about a cantaloupe with this +I have the piece of mind f knowing their is a bit extra help to keep my stuff dry
Anyone els do this? What do you guys use to carry your shelter system and why?

Try some snakeskins or a slug (I believe) from Wilderness Logics. Will get pretty much all into there for you nice and neatly.

If you put your (wet/damp) tarp in a drybag with your hammock, everything will get wet.
    I'd advise separating them.

I put my hammock, clothes and down stuff into a pack liner and stuff it in the bottom of my pack.

You could always use the old military dry bags. The rubber ones with the straps on top. I've been looking for some for a while now, can't find them.

    What he said.

Now, if you're worried about keeping everything together, as well as being worried about damp, here is what I suggest:

A set of Lazy Slug Tubes, placed inside of a roll-top waterproof bag (compression or not is your choice) or packliner. This will allow you to deploy everything while keeping it relatively waterproof from spray and the occasional downpour before you manage to get your tarp up (not fun; had that ruin my one and only Gorge trip so far) while having your insulation and hammock all in one place. The waterproof container for this will keep everything from being soaked should you roll your watercraft or manage to slip crossing a stream.

It's a slight weight penalty, but worth it in my opinion for ease of set up and additional waterproofing.

As stated above I like to keep my wet/dirty tarp and suspension separate from the rest of my gear so it is in a mesh stuff sack attached to the outside of the pack. Everything else is in a trash compactor bag in the pack.

+1 and the tarp goes in a separate bag which goes in the outside mesh pocket of my pack for easy access
