    2x4 suspension for beach camping

I was camping at the beach this weekend and came up with this solution since there were no trees. The 2x4's are bolted together. We had 1.1 inches of rain, 16 mph winds gusting to 30 mph and I was rocking gently in my HH explorer deluxe. I am glad I got the larger rainfly.

I've never done that, so, for those that have, does it feel unstable at all or do the guy lines do that good of a job (..being rated for the task of course) of keeping this "tree like" and stable?
You don't HAVE TO be crazy to be here - But I assure you it will help.....

Have to file that idea away in the memory for just in case.

It was very stable. I would go with tree-like. There was absolutely no rocking and it held fine. I took the idea from looking at a slacklining video. They were set up on the beach and it looked very stable.

The one time it moved was when I left the hammock blowing in the wind unstated and with no weight. The hammock "flapped" in the wind and the poles were able to move. I put the snake skins on and the problem went away.

Doing that! I think a 12 or 13 foot fixed ridgeling, two A frames, big ground stakes, and some ratchet straps would have me hanging everywhere I can car camp. Brilliant!
