Are you adding a skeg or rudder on the bottom or are you going to just rely on the built in plastic ones? I am sled shopping and going to modify my poles so they will collapse.

Very cool Raiff. I hope we can get out in the woods this year a couple of times.

===> Joe, I have a design for skegs that will retract when going over logs, etc, then drop back down, or can be locked easily in the "up" position if not needed. I have to get them fabricated, then install them by the hang. Hopefully, I can get that done. If not, I will post drawings of the ideas here.

I put 2 12 inch pieces of 1" aluminum angle on the bottom. Tapered them front and back. We did not go over any logs, so I am not sure if they would have hung up, but i did feel that they made the sled hard to turn on the twisty narrow trail. We did not go on a trail that traversed a hill so I don't know if they would have been deep enough to stop the rear, (stern) from breaking loose and sliding down the hill. Be interested in seeing what you have come up with.
Walking the dog tonight in 5 degrees (without the wind chill factored in) is really making me question my decision to sleep outside with you crazy people next month
[QUOTE=raiffnuke;1151849]Here are a few quick photos of my pulk with the temporary rope/pole harness and the strapping system for cargo.
Looks great! I like the straps.
Check out the YouTube channel Yankee Self-Sufficiency. He has a DIY pulk
with some pretty nifty brackets very close to the ski-pulk design but a LOT cheaper.
27 days to go. Just finished my DIY 100% wool capote and I'll be testing it out during the snow storm today! Working on my layering.
Hey Skypainter! The bentonite has come in and the soap-making will be commencing soon. Bring your straight edge!
No need to question your decision. You won't need to walk us at night, so that makes it much easier.
Although I believe Raiffnuke usually appreciates a dog treat when he is about to attack a fallen tree in his kilt with a chainsaw (Raiff is in the kilt, not the tree), so if you could take care of that...
