Nylon vs ripstop nylon same dinier?

    Hey guys viper here!
Been wondering this for a while now. Same dinier is ripstop nylon going to be the same strength as regular nylon of about equal dinier? I know their is more like bread count and whatnot but I'm just wondering is ripstop stronger then regular nylon or not really? What's your opinion?

No. The ripstop aspect will prevent a tear in the fabric from propagating under normal use (aka not hammock), but that's about it. By itself it doesn't really add strength.

Denier is related to thread mass so the same denier in the same material will be the same strength. But note... that only apples to the same material comparison. Switch base material (eg two different ratings of nylon) and the comparison on strength goes out the window. The ripstop threads will have an effect on the strength of the fabric for garment wear. But for hammock use, IMO, any benefit from ripstop is meaningless. Ripstop or plain weave will be virtually interchangeable.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."
