Has anyone tried the DIY silnylon (soaking method) with the $1.00/yrd 100% polyester material from WalMart? I understand the process but have always seen nylon used. Hope that is not a stupid question. Very new to this. Thanks!

Hilleberg use a silicon coated polyester for some of their tents so no reason why it shouldn't work provided there is no DWR applied to the original fabric.
