Purchases in the classifieds, but it is a Hammock Gear tarp. I figured it was for folding back the doors, but why not run the CRL through there too?
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the strength to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
I've never tried using it with the ridgeline but I don't see any reason you couldn't unless it affects the pitch of the tarp. That would depend on the cat cut of the ridgeline.
For example, I use a continuous ridgeline and it works fine but if I use a line from each end and Dutch stingerz instead I get a tighter pitch and more curve to the ridgeline on a couple of my tarps with more pronounced cat cut. You'll have to look at that on your tarp and decide if the center ring is helping the tightness of your pitch or introducing an angle that prohibits a taught pitch.
Other people ask for one so they can hang stuff from the inside of the tarp such as a bugnet if on the ground or a light etc... Usually that D ring will be on the inside.
My two cents on the subject.
