SOLD - 4oz Zpacks Cuben Fiber Minimalist Hammock Tarp

    SOLD
Shipping and fees included in price.

Description - This tarp is a Zpacks prototype based on the vague amount of information that was passed to me from the person that I received it from. This is the one and only produced as far as I know. It is an interesting design - each end of the ridgeline forms a peak that wraps over the hammock end (see pic 2, 6, 7, 8). Think of a hammock that has doors, but the doors are always closed. It is designed to hook onto your hammock suspension and follow your hammocks ridgeline for coverage - OR - You can also simply attach a tarp ridgeline for a tight pitch but the "doors" won't cover your hammock. This would be best used as a tarp that you bring with you as an emergency, such as on a dayhike that turns into an overnighter. I have tried it and it works, but not for the claustrophobic. If you want room, look elsewhere. If you want a 4oz tarp that can take you through a storm, keep reading.
The hammock has 8 total tieouts, you can see the locations in picture 2.

*PLEASE NOTE: No guylines are included. If planning to use this on the hammock suspension, tensioners (such as JRB's or a DIY rig) will need to be used for guyouts since the pitch will change when you lie in your hammock.

    Manufacturer- Zpacks

    Dimensions - RL = 124"
    Middle Width = 70"
    Head/Foot Width 48"

    Weight - 4oz

Condition - Great, no abrasions, holes, horrible stitching or other issues - ALWAYS stored lightly folded. The only imperfections that are apparent does not affect functionality whatsoever: It appears that there was once noseeum netting attached around the edges, which has been snipped off (see picture 6). There are also a few dirt spots that may or may not wash off.

Seam Sealed? - Yes, with Cuben Tape (Has not been used in over a year so I cannot promise that it won't have a slight leak).

Taking $25 off, making the total $175 Shipped. I have also revised the listing because it was a little confusing. If anyone has questions, please PM me and I'll reply promptly.

Yes, very interesting idea. Hammock ridgeline would have to be shorter than 10' 4", right? Was initially thinking this wouldn't fit my long hammock, but then the ridgeline is probably shorter than that. Sort of liking the idea of having hammock and tarp in one set of skins.

    Hmmm...

This has 4 tie outs? One on each "fixed door" and the one on each side?

Yes, it would need to be shorter. Considering the standard hammock ridgeline is around 100-108" it should work for most. The hammock shown in the pic is a 11.5ft gathered end with a 103" ridgeline.

It has 8 tieouts total, 3 on each side, and one on each end. I'll reflect that in the OP... you should be able to see them if you look closely at the pictures.

Pic 2 shows them on the far side.

Would it be able to go porch mode with the way the doors are?

Are you asking if I have personally taken this through a storm? The answer is no. I have only had this in light rain and it performed well and I stayed dry (rain lasted for about an hour). I was not able to lay flat (sideways) or rain would hit the foot of my hammock. This could have just been how I had it pitched at the time though. I have only pitched this three times, two of which were in the backcountry, and one for these photos.

Yes, it will go into porch mode. Obviously, it has a point where the doors will no longer allow it to rise on the sides. Don't expect it to be as significant as a tarp without "fixed doors" in porch mode. However, you can set up trekking poles under the sides to get more clearance during a light rain. You'll have to hunker down in any real rain.

    I'm loving all the questions!
