    Flat.

You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

I borrowed an ENO SN and Atlas Straps from Gadgets, and I've positioned myself in such a way that my feet are in the ribbon of color on one end and my head rests diagonally on the other side. But I'm not really flat- like 90*. I might be doing it wrong?

Does "flat" in hammock talk mean something else?

Flat means flat. If you are not flat you are like a banana.

Just a little too short and narrow of a hammock.

My 11' BIAS I can almost lay Mayan style, and it's flat enough I need a pillow or have to loosen the Knotty mod by my head and fold the excess fabric over behind my head. Comfortable hammock.

The SN should be fine, dimensionally. Longer, wider hammocks can be more comfortable, though it's not necessary.

"flat" mean's flat. "Flat" may not necessarily mean "comfortable". The floor is flat, but not very comfy for most.

Usually when people say "flat", they mean they don't feel doubled over, bent into a banana shape, and are comfortable in the hammock.

The true goal isn't "flat", but "comfort".

If you're not comfortable, then I'd suggest adding an adjustable ridge line, and playing with sag. Most people start with 83% of hammock body length. Just a few inches either way can make a big difference.

I just spent last weekend on a Grand Trunk Ultralight which is approx the same dimensions and I would recommend a slightly larger hammock if you are looking for a truly flat lay (or is that lie?)

If your on a budget, Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter Pro is fantastic and the netless version, the Skeeter Beeter Double can be found for about the same price as the ENO singlenest.

    Good luck and Happy Hanging!

    IMO, you are both correct!

Look at pics of folks in their hammocks, and none of the people are lying flat (as on a firm bed mattress).

Some hammocks do 'curve you up' less than others, though.

I can lie flat in my hammock but I lie across the hammock instead of the natural position...

The 'not so flat' pics of people laying in their hammocks was what lead me to the bridge hammock!

Flat as in not with my head higher than my feet nor my feet higher than my head is what is achieved with a good hang. I'm sure the weight of my butt pushing against the fabric means that you couldn't put a piece of plywood snug against all my parts ... but then that would be as uncomfortable as laying on the floor wouldn't it!!
