Hi folks, I want to try hammock camping and saw hammocks with mosquito nets from Grand Trunk for great prices, and with positive reviews (on Amazon).
Do any of you pros have experience with this brand?
Thanks in advance,
Hugh

I just bought a GTSB Pro, but don't like the suspension on it. I am changing it out for Whoopie slings. Besides that the hammock is great.
Straight out of Clayton.
Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.
I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.
I have a Grand trunk ultra light. I sleep in it once or twice a week when my wife is too loud to get a good nights sleep.

GT's and ENO are the 2 closest on the market. The GT is a little thinner material by feel, but the Double seems wider than the ENO, but theyre both about the same length. I have not seen an issue with any kind of materials or workmanship.
also, i hate the suspension too.

The GTUL is too small for me, and I'm only 5'6". The suspension needs traded out.
I think they will do for most, and pricing is about what you expect from the Cookie Cutter Imports. Workmanship is average to good, but not approaching our cottage industry standards. Best if caught during deep discounts on Amazon or other such listings. Good enough and then some, to see if hanging is going to be down your alley.
I gave mine away.

I've got a couple of the GTUL's and I love lounging in them while hiking, but cannot sleep in them. Have tried many times, just won't happen for me.
Cheers
I have a gt double and love it. It's a very well built hammock and I have had about 450lbs in mine and it held fine. I also have some extended stays in it with no complaints. It's a very good rig once you ditch the stock suspension and get some whoopies.
Cummins powered.
Gear: superfly tarp gt double hung from whoopies and an eno bug net.

I have a couple of GTULs and like them a lot. 1 of them was my go to hammock for about a year. I had no problem sleeping in mine (I'm 6'). Changing the suspension is a good idea though.
No experience with the skeeter beater, but I know a couple of buddies that have them and they like them just fine.

+ 1 on most of what's above.
They are similar to ENO in quality but priced more affordably. They are mass produced imports and as such the quality varies depending on day of the week and time in the shift but for the most part are pretty decent.
The stock suspension as mentioned needs to go, but with Whoopies or Straps and buckles, they work great.
I have several GTUL hammocks - I find that they are most comfortable with a "mini Spreader bar" concept. I use a large biner run through the gathered end and just that small amount of spreading makes all the difference for me.
Although I do not currently own the Skeeter Beeter Pro, I've bought and given away several to friends and famly and they love it too. It is comfortable, inexpensive, and in my opinon the best entry level camping hammock with bug netting attached one could try for the price.
The Nano 7 is in my daypack everywhere I go and its light weight and stretchy fabric make it both convenient and extremely comfortable for a hammock of its size.
