Inexpensive Tri stake source

cool i hope they work out too, i like the groundhogs alot and have slightly bent a couple. i think i was able to lay them on some concrete and mostly straighten them back out. 1$/ea is a pretty good price.

FWIW, maybe there is something to HF partnering with GoingGear on some HF logo items, or at least as a resource for cool items for our members.

Maybe you can get custom etched ones with "Warbonnet" on them like those cool Biners

Just ordered about $40 from Going Gear based off of his offer in this thread.

Somehow PayPal double dipped my order and Marshall (Going Gear) was quick to remedy the problem.

Ordered some tri-stakes, some 8 strand para cord, and a few other small odds and ends. The zipper-pull that doubles as an emergence whistles looks quite cool and are a good multi-use item if they turn out to be loud at all. Shipping was reasonable as well.

I will report back in after I get my stakes and maybe do a quick head to head with the MSR since that is what my buddy uses.

I got my stakes this weekend. Good news; I used them two nights and no 'bendage'.

I did, however, break my first ever Groundhog. Busted right in half and scared the crud out of me!

I do think it was one of my veteran stakes that has had a lot of abuse.

The ones from GoingGear are about half an inch shorter than the Groundhogs I have. The flights are certainly thicker that the other knock-offs I used (found one at home last night). The only complaint I have so far is the lack of the little loop of line attached to the Groundhogs. Course, that probably helps explain why the cost difference. Still, nice stakes.

I got a couple of the same whistles Soular. They are kind of nifty!

I replaced all my loops in my groundhogs with triptease in the hopes of finding them easier when I launch them. Do the going gear stakes have a hole for the loop?

Edit: They do have the holes for the loop.

Yep! I believe it is the same diameter as well.

On top of replacing the loops with triptease, I also painted the tops of the stakes white, and then put a coating of glow-in-the-dark paint over the white, then topped it off with a layer of clear coat.

I just ordered some more stakes and I don't plan on modding those so I can still have a more stealthy hang.

I just ordered a bunch of stuff from there also, including the stakes. I've used the aluminum tri-stakes from Vargo, and liked them, so I hope these work out as well.

I like the idea of using triptease for the loop--easier to see in the dark, without having all those laser lines.
